The Year 2010 We Hardly Knew Ya!

2010 was a year of wtf? and fun times as well. But I have to wonder in these microwave times, what does 2011 have to hold? Is it the beginning of our inevitable doom? Or, will it be a time for enlightenment? Will people carry on like it's another day? Or will there be fanatics preparing for the worst?

In music 2010 is ending with a bang! Justin Beiber is proving to be a formidable opponent for any other teen idol who is even thinking of coming into the lime light.
While rappers like Kanye is raking in big numbers with his newest album 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy pushing 500,000 units sold. Even after the Taylor Swift fiasco the year prior, Kanye wasn't seen for a good while on TV, but after the announcement of a new album and a memorable closing performance at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards he has officially pulled through.

Lady Gaga led this year in award wins and she is set to take home more at the 2011 Grammy Awards with 'The Fame Monster'. Also, 2011 will be a big year for the Mother Monster as her 3rd album Born This Way will make it's debut. I'm hoping she and Kanye finally do a concert together.

But 2010 did have pretty bad and unlady like times. Nicki Minaj who in one week sold a little over 371,000 units with her album Pink Friday, had a huge year being a feature girl on other artist's singles and winning the hearts of girls and some women alike. But with this came 'the hate'. Nicki has awoken the wrath of many other female rappers mainstream and underground alike, but none like the wrath Lil' Kim has unleashed on the Bronx-Trini native with her single 'Black Friday' sparking a heated debate on whether or not 21st century followers should remember a sleeping rap Queen or sing the praises of a basic rapper.

In 2011 will we see a rise in Female rappers capable of contending with (Who Billboard Mag dubbed Queen of Hip Hop) #BOISTOP!!! or will we have to suffer through another year of wack raps?

But other than that we have lost some stars this year with the most recent being Leslie Nielsen.
-Alexander McQueen
-Jill Clayburgh
-Gary Coleman
-Shannon Taverez
-Teddy Pendergrass
-Greg Giraldo
-James MacArthur
-Tom Bosley
-Corey Haim
-Rue McClanahan
-Dennis Hopper
-Lena Horne
-Gang Starr's Guru
-John Forsythe
-Zelda Rubinstein
.... there are more, unfortunately.

Hopefully 2011 will offer us some firsts, and hopefully we won't be led into a cultural wasteland. Will the shows on TV get better? Will Music Get Better? Will the Economy Recover? Let's see how it goes.
